Kin4Life’s New Song Lone Ranger is A Song Everyone Needs to Hear

I was all set to write a blog about protest music; to talk about how outraged I was at the present and apparent apathy expressed in today’s music. Then I listened to the song “Lone Ranger” by Kin4Life with special guests Studology101, Neftunes and Tora Torres.  This song addresses the issue of LGBTQ youth suicides in a powerful, factual and emotional way. This is a song everyone needs to hear.

These suicides are a problem. They are not confined to the LGBTQ youth and they are not a “gay” issue for the gay community exclusively to work out. These are our children; our youth. They are sons and daughters; they are students. They are our hope. They are potential doctors and lawyers—our future; and they are taking their lives because not only are they being bullied for being who they are but there are actually people out there ignorant enough to say that these kids should picked on because they do not understand or do not agree with who they are. When in actuality no child deserves that kind of treatment.

It is always a disturbing surprise when people can hear stories about young people taking their own lives and not be heartbroken by the loss of a child, outraged that this bullying is allowed and sometimes overlooked in the schools, or both.  It is comforting however, to know that there are people who really do care; who do not forget about the urgency of this issue after the news goes off. People are working trying to help these young people and make things better. The Kin4Life collaboration song “Lone Ranger” is one out of many examples of people trying to raise awareness and help make things better. That’s why “Lone Ranger” is a song everyone needs to hear. 1. I like it. Love how you talk about issues that people don’t normally think about, or brush it under the rug.

One person told me that bullying is a part a life, but I wonder if the person ever bullied in his life. I don’t think so. It is a shock how many children commit suicide due to bullying.

It is shocking and sad! Just because bullying is currently a part of time, does not mean that it should remain a part of life.

And suicide is an issue not to be taken lightly. I had a friend attempt suicide by taking pills when we were in junior high, I don’t think she was being bullied though.

Even still, that’s part of the reason that I get angry at people who want to blame the victims of these suicides.

That’s why this song is so powerful.

  3. Thanks for your support fam!

This is an issue that awareness needs to be raised on as you are are absolutely right about this being beyond a gay issue.

Our youth are struggling with issues that we didn’t address during previous generations so they have festered and gotten worse….

No problem. This issue is too important to skip over. Young people are taking their lives. Many of them because they feel they have no one to talk to; and in many cases, sadly they are right.

[Some] people are letting their personal views blind them to the fact that our young people are taking their lives. Where is the love & understanding.

This is why these kids are taking their lives. They need help and [some] people aren’t helping.

I don’t know if there are words to express the disapointment that I feel when people see this happening & don’t do anything.
